Vampire 600 V1: Package recived - damaged
Posted on Friday, July 06 2012 @ 06:52:12 CEST by majsta

Today I received package of Altera Cyclone II FPGA devices, but 3 of them was damaged. Here I just want to inform you that very important thing here is packaging done by the supplier and if packaging is not done proper way pins of the devices will be damaged. Those pins are so delicate and it just can't be repaired. Problem here is that when you buy large quantity of FPGA devices you will get it in plastic housing, and those housings are designed to keep every single device in place and to save them from any potential damage. Supplier then wrap nylon foil around housing to keep devices on place and then when devices are not in correct position in plastic housing nylon foil create pressure to the devices pushing them back to plastic housing destroying pins. So you can see what stupid problems may occur when you start some project. You need to check everything number of times and still some stupid thing can delay your project.
